Why is N.J. rent so high? Because the state is short 225K affordable units, report says.


 For every 100 extremely low-income renters in New Jersey, there are only about 31 affordable apartments or houses available for them to rent, according to a new report.

Nationwide, there are about a half million fewer affordable rentals for extremely low-income people than there were before the pandemic, according to a report released earlier this month by the National Low Income Housing Coalition, a nonprofit group focused on providing housing for people in need.
